Ch. Davaabayar, Advisor to the Mongolian President’s Industry and Services Policy: He worked at Harumafuji Dairy Farm, which was founded by the 70th grand champion of professional sumo wrestling, Harumafuji D. Byambadorji.

Harumafuji began his farming venture by reclaiming 200 hectares of degraded land in Bayankhangai Sum of the Central Province. He cultivated corn and sudan grass for cattle fodder.
“He aims to develop a comprehensive farm that will serve as a model and fully provide milk and dairy products for children locally. The farm has over 100 Montbéliarde French dairy cows, each capable of producing 35-40 liters of milk per day. The cow’s milk is collected and used as fertilizer, making the farm a zero-waste, eco-friendly operation.

The milk is produced using a low-temperature sterilization technology called the “Pasteur method”, which is processed in a vacuum environment without reacting with air, using a fully automatic shut-off valve that meets high standards of hygiene.
There are 206 milk and milk product factories, workshops, and 77 cooling centers operating in Mongolia, and more than 1,680 people are working in them. Of these, 10 milk processing plants have introduced international quality and food safety systems (ISO 9000, ISO 22000, HACCAP, tetrapak). The installed capacity of the milk processing industry is 400,000 tons per year, 51 percent of which is used today, and the remaining percent is provided by imports. For Mongolia to fully satisfy its domestic milk market, it is necessary to develop highly productive farmer’s cow farming. This industry emphasizes that it is possible to increase the output and supply of milk.

Mongolia has set a goal to supply 19 types of food products domestically in the next 5 years. This includes milk and dairy products, and the “Food Revolution” national movement initiated by the President of Mongolia plays an important role in the development of this sector.
In particular, policy support is provided through 3-5 year concessional loans with a 5-6 percent interest rate, customs tax concessions, exemptions, VAT exemptions, and milk incentives.
